Technology categories:

  • Wind Turbine

  • Solar PV

  • Biomass pellet boiler

  • Gardens and woodland

Detailed information about features:

This stone built farmhouse dates from the 16th Century and is surrounded by 50 acres of organic pasture. We produce grass-fed, slow matured lamb in the most sustainable way we can. The farm is managed within the Glas Tir environmental scheme and we have created features such as a new wildlife pond, a small nature reserve and patches of broadleaf woodland. We rent out a gypsy caravan with off grid eco cabin and wood fired sauna for guests.

We have tried to minimise our carbon footprint by installing some low carbon energy production:

proven 6kW wind turbine, installed in 2008 and producing around 5000kWh per year. Two banks of 3.8kw PV panels Newly installed 35kW biomass boiler fuelled by wood pellets (installed by Novalux)

Allied to this, we have converted our massive four oven Aga to electricity and managed to throw away our oil tank earlier this year!
